Subaru unveiled the 2017 Impreza sedan and five-door hatchback to automotive press during the New York International Auto Show on March 23 and 24. The compact car will be the newest model built at the company’s plant in Lafayette.
The models will be the first Imprezas built in the United States. Previously, the cars were assembled at plants in Japan and Malaysia.
In September 2015, Subaru announced a 1,200-worker expansion in Lafayette as the company prepared to increase production by 100,000 vehicles annually. Hiring is expected to continue through this year, Tom Easterday, executive vice president of Subaru of Indiana Automotive said.
