Casey Northcutt’s co-workers and neighbors at Rainbow Omega call him “Coach” because of his love for sports.
Northcutt and those co-workers at the Carpenter Work Center clock in every day and head to their stations affixed with bags of black plastic grommets and clear plastic bags. The workers place grommets in the plastic bags and ready owner manual kits for Honda trucks, vans, SUVs and cars for the next phase of assembly. Northcutt likes the work.
“I like everything here,” he said Thursday morning at an event where Honda Manufacturing of Alabama awarded Rainbow Omega the 2016 Honda Supplier Award for Excellence in Delivery.
Rainbow Omega, in Eastaboga, is a faith-based nonprofit organization serving adults with developmental disabilities, giving them a place to both live and work, if they choose.
The Rainbow Omega workshop employees assemble around 1,500 owner manual kits a day for cars manufactured at the Lincoln Honda plant. The kits can be found in the glove compartment of every Honda Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline, and Acura MDX manufactured locally. The Department of Labor certified workshop includes employees as well as job coaches and quality control coordinators.
