Here for America Supports Senator Corker’s Motion to Require Congressional Approval for Imposing Tariffs and Other Restrictions on Imports Under Section 232

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 11, 2018 – “Here For America continues to support Senator Corker’s efforts to require Congressional approval prior to the imposition of tariffs or other restrictions on imports for national security reasons.

“The U.S. auto industry is flourishing and highly competitive. No automaker or auto parts supplier has asked for tariff protections.  The initiation of a Section 232 investigation on automobiles and automobile parts imports and steel and aluminum tariffs demonstrates the need for such oversight.

“We encourage Congress and the President to work together on policies that will ensure the U.S. auto industry remains strong, competitive and innovative. The future growth and prosperity of our industry and the American jobs it generates depend on it.”
