Here for America Supports Congressional Oversight on Tariffs and Other Trade Restrictions Under Section 232

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 30, 2019  –  “Congress has a critical role in overseeing any tariffs or other trade restrictions imposed under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.  Here For America applauds Senators Toomey and Warner and Representatives Kind, Gallagher, Panetta, and LaHood for introducing legislation that reasserts Congress’ role in determining whether trade actions related to national security are justified.

“Tariffs are taxes that harm consumers, reduce investment, and threaten American jobs. No single automaker asked for tariff protection.  Here For America supports these efforts by Congress to rebalance the authority available under this statute and urges that hearings be held on this important issue at the earliest opportunity.”
