Nissan: More Than 35 Years of Manufacturing in America
Nissan sold its first automobile in the U.S. in 1958, with U.S. manufacturing beginning in June of 1983 as a white Nissan pickup truck rolled off the assembly line at a brand new plant in Smyrna. More than 36 years later, Nissan has four U.S. manufacturing facilities capable of producing more than 1 million vehicles, 1.4 million engines, 1.4 million forgings and 456,000 castings annually.
In recent years, Nissan has made strategic investments in its U.S. operations to ensure the company is able to continue to build quality vehicles that meet the growing needs of U.S. consumers.
